1. Leadership Training for House Association

The leadership training for House Association successfully served the following purposes, (1) training and improving the planning, leadership, service and communication skills of the HA;(2) building team spirit among the members of HA and (3)planning and preparation for the coming semester.
2. Master Dinner and Financial Forum: “Financial Crisis and Ethics”

The honored guest speakers are five senior financial professionals from Hong Kong, including Mr. Leong Ka-Chai (OBE SBS JP), former Chairman of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE), Dr. Lewis Chan, Managing Partner of MaunaKai Capital Partners (Hong Kong) Limited, Mr. NG Chi Hin Ernest, Chief Investment Officer, Sumeru Capital, Dr. Samuel Po-Shing Wong, former Head of Research of CASH Dynamic Opportunities Investment Limited, and Professor Lam Kin, Emeritus Professor of Hong Kong Baptist University. Professor Jacky So, the Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, was invited as the honored guest of the event. About 50 College members and some postgraduates from Postgraduate House attended the forum. The guest speakers shared their wonderful financial experiences and insightful opinions on current financial crisis with students.
3. Master Dinner and Salon Talk—The Brain and Emotion

The honored speaker is Professor Hung Lan of Neural Science Graduate Institute of National Chung Yang University, Taiwan. Master Chung held a Master Dinner in honor of Professor Hung, and the other participants include teachers and students of the College. Professor Hung gave her talk in the living room of the Master’s Quarter, explaining how our emotions are affected by the neural system in the brain, and how we can reach equilibrium by concentration and meditation.
4. 2014 Autumn Macau-Hong Kong Poetry Recital

CYTC invited 4 well-known poets, Wu Yin Ching, Wong Leung Wo, Ling Ku and Un Sio San, from Hong Kong and Macau to read poems again with our students on October 11th .The poetry recital was very special in a way that not only the poets read poems but also 12 CYTC students chose one of the poets’ works to read. Our students impressed the poets by their sentimental and touching performance. Students and poets also had an in-depth discussion.
5. The First High Table Dinner

The honored guest speaker is Professor Zhang Longxi, a famous scholar from City University of Hong Kong. Other honorable High Table Guests included the Master of Cheng Yu Tung College, Professor Chung Ling, the Chair of UM University Council, Dr. Lam Kam Seng, the Vice Rector of University Macao (Student Affairs), Professor Haydn Chen, Dean of Honours College, Prof. MOK Kai Meng, etc. Professor Zhang gave the talk on traditional culture and how it was developed in the west.
6. Climate Change and Life-Style

Mr. Lam Chiu Ying, the former Director of Hong Kong Observatory, had been working on the issues of the climate change and environmental protection after his retirement. CYTC invited Mr. Lam to hold a talk about “Climate Change and Life-Style” on 22th October 2014. During the talk, Mr. Lam presented the reasons and the consequences of global warming in the scientific view point. It was showed that if we keep ignoring the climate change and believing consumerism, the end of the day of human being will be coming soon. For improving the situation, Mr. Lam suggested an extremely simple solution-to live as simple as you can! Mr. Lam illustrated his concept of environmental protection not only by his power point presentation but also by acting as a role model on living in an environmental friendly way, which fascinated and moved our students.
7. The Second High Table Dinner

The honored guest speaker is the Vice Rector of University of Macao (research), Professor RUI PAULO DA SILVA MARTINS. Other High Table guests included the College Master of Cheng Yu Tung College, Professor Ling Chung, the Chair of University Council of UM, Dr. Lam Kam Seng Peter, President of Macau Construction Machinery Engineering Association and Managing Director of San You Development Company Ltd., Mr. Cheong Lok Tin, Vice-President of Cultural Affair Bureau and Academic of Department of Portuguese of UM,Dr. Yao jingming, Principal of Pooi To Middle School, Ms. Lei Pou Tin (Pauline), Director of Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement (CTLE), Professor SPENCER ALAN BENSON, College Fellow of Cheng Yu Tung College, Dr. Victoria Lei. Other guests include Head of Security and transportation Section of Macau University, Mr. LAI MENG KAI (DICK), and 6 House Association Chairmen from MOON CHUN MEMORIAL COLLEGE, Chao Kuang Piu College, Choi Kai Yau College, Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College, Stanley Ho East Asia College, Shiu Pong College, etc. Professor Martin introduced research development of University Macao for past years.
8. The Third High Table Dinner

The honored guest speaker is Vice President (Academic Affairs) of Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Franklin Luk. Other High Table guests included College Master of Cheng Yu Tung College, Professor Chung Ling, Interim Vice Rector (Academic Affairs), Chair Professor and Dean of Faculty of Education, Professor Fan Xitao, Chair Professor of Political Science and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Macau, Professor Hao Yufan, Chair Professor and Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology of UM, Professor CHEN CHUN-LUNG, Librarian of UM, Dr. POON WAH TUNG, Taiwan famous novelist, poet, essayist, literary critic, Mr. Luo Yijun, Principle of Macau Pui Ching Middle School and The External Member appointed by the Chief Executive in the University Council of UM, Dr. Kou Kam Fai. Other guests included associate master from other 5 residential colleges of UM including Moon Chun Memorial College, Chao Kuang Piu College, Choi Kai Yau College, Shiu Pong College, etc. Professor Lok delivered a speech titled “Computer Additions may Cause Disasters.”
9. CYTC Outstanding Series-Famous Taiwanese Writer Mr. Luo, YiJun

Mr. Luo Yijun, one of the most famous new generation writers in Taiwan, is also regarded as “A Wonder” in the 1960s. From 23rd to 29th November, Writer Luo visited Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) as Writer-in-Residence to hold one seminar and 2 fiction writing workshops. The talk “In dreams, I knew not an exile I remain(夢裡不知身是客)” was successfully held in the evening of 26th Nov and 2 fiction writing workshops were conducted from 25th and 27th November.
10. Retreat for Resident Tutors

The retreat for resident tutor (RT) successfully served the following purposes, (1)Training and improving the planning, leadership and counseling skills of the RTs; (2) Reflection and sharing or work in the 1st semester of 2014/2015 (3) Building team spirit among the RTs and (4)Planning and preparation for the coming semester.
11. Program of Exchange Students between UM Cheng Yu-Tung College and the RCs of Taiwan National Chengchi University

According to the Memorandum of Understanding on a Program of Exchange Students between Chengchi Colleges and Cheng Yu-Tung College signed in May, 2014, the program was officially taken place in December, 2014. 10 selected CYTC students visited NCCU from December 22nd to 29th, 2014. The students took some courses in X college and Freshman College as well as exploring Taiwanese culture with NCCU students. All 10 students had learned a lot and enjoyed their staying in Taiwan.
12. Labor Education
Competency: Leadership and service; Interpersonal relation and teamwork
CYTC held college wide clean-up program in the past year and to continue the spirit of loving living environments, College kept encouraging and advising students to clean up their pantries, private living space and bathrooms on their own. Through this program, they also learned how to work together to make their livings in a better condition.
